What is Insert injection molding?

Insert molding refers to the molding process in which pre prepared inserts of different materials are put into the mold and then resin is injected. The molten materials and inserts are joined and solidified to make an integrated product.

In addition, insert molding combines multiple combinations of metal and plastic or materials and components into a single unit. The process uses engineering plastics to improve wear resistance, tensile strength and weight reduction, and uses metal materials to improve strength and conductivity. It is often used in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, medical, national defense, electronics, industry and consumer markets.

1.Forming system of full-automatic vertical roll-to-roll injection molding machine

Roll-to-roll molding refers to that the thin metal tension belt on the reel is sent into the mold by the winding machine, and plastic parts are embedded in the tension belt after molding by the vertical injection molding machine. The tension belt is sent out and cut into products by the stamping machine.

2.In mold assembly injection molding system

In mold assembly and molding, also known as insert molding, refers to the molding process in which a prepared insert or metal belt made of different materials is put into a mold by a manipulator, and then resin is injected into the mold. The molten material is joined with the insert and solidified to make an integrated product.

3.Two color vertical injection molding machine

Its characteristics are as follows:

1. By making use of the ease of molding and bending of resin and the rigidity, strength and heat resistance of metal, complex and exquisite metal plastic integrated products can be solidly made by combining and supplementing each other, improving the strength and structure of products and enhancing the flexibility of product design.

2. In particular, the combination of resin insulation and metal conductivity is used to make molded products that can meet the basic functions of electrical products.

3.With the combination of vertical injection molding machine, manipulator, and insert line device, most insert molding projects can achieve automatic production.

4. Inserts are not limited to metal, but also include wire, plastic, glass, wood, coil, electrical parts, etc.

5. Because it is the joint of molten materials and metal inserts, the gap between metal inserts can be designed to be narrower and the forming reliability of composite products is higher than that of press in forming..

6. Select appropriate resin and molding conditions, that is, for products that are easy to be damaged (such as glass, coils, electrical parts, etc.), they can also be sealed and fixed through resin.

7. Select an appropriate mold structure, and the inserts can also be completely sealed into the resin.

8. Once the injection molding of inserts produces defective products, such as defective injection molding, missing inserts, poor location, etc., the entire product will be scrapped at a huge cost;

9. Injection molding of inserts is not conducive to product recycling and scrap.

Insert Molding Design Guidelines:

1.The placement of inserts often complicates the mold structure, prolongs the injection molding cycle, increases the manufacturing cost, and increases the difficulty of automatic production;

2.The coefficient of thermal expansion of the insert is inconsistent with that of the plastic. When the temperature changes greatly, it is easy to cause internal stress in the final product, resulting in product fracture; When selecting plastic raw materials, the thermal expansion coefficient should be close to the thermal expansion coefficient of insert materials,

3. During the design of insert, it must be considered how to fix it in the mold, otherwise it is easy to shift or deform under the impact of molten materials;

4. The shape of the insert shall be round or axisymmetric as far as possible, and no sharp corners or acute corners are allowed, so as to facilitate uniform shrinkage and prevent local stress, or even stress concentration;
5.The inserts shall have sealing boss and other structures to prevent overflow during injection molding;
6.The distance between the insert and the product side wall shall not be too small to ensure a certain strength of the mold;
